Calendar Event: 177 fender too close to wheel Posted: 03 Jul 2013 at 3:28pm |
We recently purchased a 2012/ 177. After we got it home we noticed on the slide side the fender is very close to the wheel. So close that is has rubbed the wires for the fender lights. Bought it in Spartanburg SC, they say they've had a couple come in like that and they've just moved the fender for appropriate space between tire and fender. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? They did an alignment check and it was only 1/4" off.

If the alignment is OK, and the trailer tracks true, then move the fender. If it pulls, or doesn't seem to follow you right, then move the axle.
If it's not pulling straight, the tires will have a scrubbed look to them. |

This may be a dumb question but are the tires the recommended size. If the fender was moved would it require drilling new holes? I think it may be better to buy different fender lights that gave more clearance. Something is different this is the first time I have heard of the tire rubbing the lights. Another idea would be get the risers which you may want to have anyways. David

Wheels are factory, it tracks true. We are definitely having risers installed. From the center of the tire to the front of the pod there's a 1" difference on the right side compared to the left side. Camping World is scratching their heads. We are currently waiting on FR to help us out. All of the service guys believe its safe to travel in, they moved the wires for the lights for us. We are in love with this Pod!!

If you are getting the risers I wouldn't worry about it. You'll get "good enough" clearance on both sides and only you will know one side is higher than the other.
