Topic: Rpod Customer Service Number? Posted: 24 Jan 2014 at 6:02pm |
I'm very close to pulling the trigger on purchasing the rpod east 179 and trading in my 2014 rockwood a122bh. Can I order the bike rack and solar panels (already wired for the new 179 model) directly from forest river? If so what is their phone number so I can check on pricing vs going through the dealer?

When I ordered my 178, I had all the options included in the purchase agreement. You can normally negotiate a lower price for any option with the dealer than what the option(s) would cost by ordering directly from FR. If you order from FR, sometimes the shipping and handling cost is almost prohibitive. A good example is the S&H costs for risers.

Thanks for sharing. I have every other option/package included in my negotiation for the 179 except the bike rack and solar panels. The reason is those I don't have a direct need for. I have a bike rack that I would use for close to home trips but for longer trips i thought the forest river may be safer to haul my recumbent bike. I don't do much dry camping but could with solar panels but may not do that right away.

Just received a phone call back from Forest River Parts, the prices for the Bike Rack and 80 Watt Zamp Solar Panels for the new Rpod 179 were much higher than the dealer. I was hoping it would be the other way around. Forest River quoted $218 for bike rack and $499 for Solar Panels vs. roughly $150 and $388 respectively without negotiating with Dealer. I'll have to give it some more thought if I should get those items now before finalizing the deal on the rpod 179 versus waiting.

Just guessing, but the dealer quotes are probably based on the bike rack and the solar panels being shipped with the R-Pod, and the FR quotes are based on the two items being shipped separately. The FR shipping charges probably account for the difference in the quotes. Again, this is only my guess.

It could be as I didn't get a chance to speak to Forest River directly as they left me a voicemail with the prices. I really don't have a strong need for both of those two items right away so I think I will hold off. I can always get them later if the need arises. It is nice though to have the Rpod already wired for Solar Panels in case I do decide to explore dry camping at some point.
