First take a sharp hand plane and take a strip of material to match the color of the material with the hole. get some buttons to cover screw heads, with contact cement glue the material to the button and trim. Put a dab of silicone in the hole and push in button. Done

Great technique. Where is there enough spare cover material to be able to peel off with the plane?

Inside cabinets and under the banqet you should be able to find some.

Great to read. We won't need much material, there are only a half dozen or so holes I want to clean up. I'll store any left over material in the pod for future fixes.
