Topic: Any tall podders? Posted: 18 Mar 2014 at 9:48pm |
I'm wondering if we have any rPodders who are 6'-2" tall or taller. I am 5'-10" tall and find the sleeping quarters a bit cramped. I'd like to have my daughter and her husband use our rPod sometimes; but my son-in-law is 6'-2+" tall, and I'm not sure it's realistic for him to be comfortable sleeping in it.

I am just over 6 foot tall and sleep very comfortably in our pod. Sometime we stay in the obx for a month at a time.

I've read that some tall podders have to take over the entire bed or dinnette, with their spouse taking the other. This is so they can sleep diagonally.

Wall-to-wall inside my R-Pod, its 6'2" across. I'm 6' and find it a bit tight to lie flat on my back and end up sleeping on my side somewhat curled-up.
As a side note, walking around, I just fit with less than an inch to spare under the A/C.

Wow Outbound you must be wearing high heels, my pods ceiling height is 78" the cover of the AC is 2" that leaves 76", you have 4" to spare. I am sure all pods are the same height.

I am 6'2 1/2" and sleep on my back sometimes, but sleep on my side most of the time.

Just living the high life while in the woods. Gotta be stylish, ya know!
But, seriously, if I had hair, it'd be brushing against the A/C while I stand in the kitchen. Must be a difference in my first-gen R-Pod.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like some pretty big guys are finding ways to get comfortable enough. I think to fully appreciate the pod, we sometimes have to remind ourselves what it's like to sleep on the ground in a tent. The trade-offs for a small, nimble camper don't seem so severe then.

I am 6'4" and can find ways to make the rPod work for me. The rPod actually seemed to have more headroom than the other trailers that we looked at, thus causing the reason why we like the rPod so much. I find the shower is the most problematic, ducking required, and the bed being second. While sleeping I find i can put one foot in the corner and keep my other leg slightly bent and it works for me. But its not my permanent residence and by all means it beats the two person back packing tent that we previously had.
