Topic: Heat Tape Posted: 25 Mar 2014 at 2:26pm |
Hi,
I am so excited to get my Rpod out for the first time. I have a 2014 Forest River R-pod 176. My question is on the thermostat it has a display item that says Heat Tape. What is that for? Thanks, Shaz

Some a/c units have a heating capability. I don't think any of the units in pods do from the factory.

Welcome, set up the thermostat and put it on Heat Tape to see what it does. Maybe it's a new feature for the 2014's. Goose

Mine came with the heat strip, but no way to activate it (older mechanical thermostat). I actually removed it last summer due to condensation issues.

You think sometime we could get a pic of your thermostat. I haven't seen the newer ones that have this option. Would be useful to have to be able to show other Podders in the future. Does it do anything if you put it to that setting??

Thanks so much for the reply. I will take a picture tonight.
We have not tried it yet. Did not see anything in the manual either. To be continued!

Not sure why they call it "heat tape", I've always heard it referred to as "heat strip". Not that it is a strip of any kind either, it is a big metal finned contraption that looks more like a small transmission cooler.

You are so right!! Upon further inspection it is called Heat Strip. When I turn it to heat strip the A/C unit comes on and emits heat!
