Topic: Securing Dinette table Posted: 31 Mar 2014 at 1:25pm |
What is the proper way to secure the dinette table on the RPOD 178? Mine has a large black strap that is screwed to the left and right storage areas. Does the strap go over the table to push the table to the floor or does it go around the table to push it against the front of the trailer?
In some marketing videos, I've seen some RPOD dinette tables with small pegs that secure the table to the storage areas. Mine doesn't have this feature. Perhaps those have been discontinued. Thanks, Cody

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine came with the peg, which I immediately removed because it dug into my leg while sitting at the table. It never moved in-transit even with nothing explicitly securing it (in the travel position, I wouldn't leave it up).

Mine was delivered with the table in the lowered position. The strap was around the leg assembly, retaining the table against the front dinette bench. (I hate all the potential storage space the leg assembly takes).

Thanks. You reconfirmed what I was thinking. I originally had the strap over the top of the table but I didn't think that did much to secure it. TechTrek - Thanks for the info on the peg. Now I know why they stopped making it. |

Yes, most who have the peg style, moved it to the rear, greatly reduces the odds of getting yourself with it. And I agree the newer "kneeling" tables are more stable than the foldy leg ones.. but that is some prime in motion storage space under that table.

During our walk through, Mike showed us to bring the strap up over the angled edge of the table top & over to the curb side on top of the table it holds the table down and forward. Made perfect sense to me.

The table on mine has never been down. I only use the strap around the leg and it's always stayed put. That's how it came delivered and I never questioned it. A problem waiting to happen??

Cool thing about the table is that you can take it outside and have a picnic table if you want or need one. On bumpy dirt roads you better use that strap.

Just towed our 178 over 2400 KMs, hit many bumps along the way. Had strap around table legs for about 500 kms, forgot to re fasten it and it seemed not to make any difference....table didn't move at all. I think its heavy enough and has good balance. Table is in upright position.
We bought two wicker baskets which nestle into the area between the settee and the table legs, we use these for shoe storage.
