I think Good Sam is a reasonable deal. They have quite a network of services, discounts at campgrounds AND discounts at Camping World. Those mods can be expensive!

We joined KOA and use if quite often for 10% off each stay and then we use the points for other discounts on stays.
I like that they have a standard for the camp grounds and must confess that I really like that most have Cable tv :)

We have camped in numerous Passport Americas. Except for major visitor season, they are 1/2 price! Costs around $50 to join, but that's about 3 half price nights worth. Some of the campgrounds are excellent! Stayed in one in Coos Bay, Or. that was rated as the best RV Park in the US! Cost around $20. A think guide comes with your membership. We've used these RV Parks for 15 years, when we weren't boondocking or camping in USFS, BLM, National Parks.

We tried a few Good Sams and didn't like them, but we like the uniformity and quality we've seen at KOAs. We prefer parks but for big trips commercial campgrounds are useful (along with truck stops at times).

While I need a "think guide" all the time, the Passport America sends a 8 1/2x11 RV Park Guide. Also we have found when we have registered at RV Parks that don't advertise Passport America and ask if they are a Passport America Park they say we're not, but we will charge you 1/2 price. They understand that a 1/2 price campsite pays much better than an empty campsite.

We joined PPA back in 1994 and think it is the biggest bargain in memberships. On our trip out west alone, we spent around 20 nights in campgrounds that are in their network. What a savings!

Oops, read my message from a couple months ago and even I don't know what a "think guide" is. Maybe I tried to write "thick" guide with my auto word speller taking control.
Gar (usually the auto word speller thinks my name is "Far"!!!)
