Originally wanted a 177, but wife like all the extra storage room in the 179.  Hope to take it camping to the local mountains by the end of the month.  Previously had a truck camper, so this is a switch.

Congratulations on the 179 purchase...we are strongly considering buying one...please let us know how your first outing in the mountains went.   Any concerns about "no space" in the bathroom?

If the weather holds we're going next weekend.  As for the bathroom, I'm 6'2" and my head touches the fan screen in the shower, but that's no big deal for me.  We tend to stay in established campgrounds and always use campground bathrooms so we don't have much of a concern about the size of the pod's bathroom.

Just got back from a weekend camping at Lake Morena in San Diego county:

Weather in the lower 80's, electricity and water hookups, good biking trails, and not too crowded.  I expected to find some problems with the r-pod, but found none.  That was a pleasant surprise, as I usually find some problems with any new RV purchase.  So far so good!

Oh yeah, got 16 MPG towing the pod with my Silverado 2500 HD diesel (which I know is overkill for this trailer).

I tow with an F250.  Love having extra power, gets way better mileage too.

We recently bought a 179 also. Some lessons... You might want to put one twist on your tow chains. This will shorten them up a little. (I'm always worried about snagging something.) if your turn signal, light, brake, etc., cord is long enough to snag you can tighten it up by wrapping it to the pod frame with electricians tape. Be sure to check it on a very tight turn to be sure you will have slack in it. Also, if you go to the desert (Anza-Borrego Desert State Park) where we go a couple times a year, you'll want to put a couple layers of stick-on weather stripping on your door where it contacts the right fender taillight to prevent the inevitable from happening. The door is good for winds up to 15-20 mph, but not good for our careless opening or probable 40-50 mph desert dust devils...

Oops, forgot to mention we're looking into the spaghetti foam noodle tubing you find in swimming pools or on the slide outs of motor homes, also found in dollar stores. May work better than my weather stripping idea.
