Hello again,

OK, just checking out my water pump for the first time and filled the water tank to around a 1/3. Turned on the water pump and water is shooting out of my city water connection. I read the manual and looked at the paperwork that came with the pump and nothing addresses this.

I know it is operator error but I just don't know why. Obviously I am a newbie so any help is appreciated, as always.

Actually it isn't your fault!  The city water connection has a one-way valve which in your case is either stuck open or completely broken.  First thing to try is gently remove the screen and then see if you can get the valve to seat with your finger.

OK, so I spoke with Roger and Jeff Couch and he said the same thing and that I could replace it myself so I thought I would take it off and see what is up.

As you can see, there doesn't seem to be anything that would stop the water from shooting out. What am I looking for?

I now took out the screen and there is nothing there.

I'm so confused.

If you pry out the screen and rubber washer in the center

You should see a little plastic post push the post in several times and see if the the valve reseats.

It looks like you have taken the front piece right off. if you look in the hole in the side of the trailer you should see the one way valve. you don't have to take off the cover if you just take out the screen you can get to the valve. I am not sure how this cover seals to the valve. It looks like there is some sort of sealent.

Thank you so much for your advice. I took it off completely as they said I would probably have to replace it so I was checking to see if there was anything I could fix. The pieces that you are showing were not in mine, at all. So strange. Anyway, I have spoken with Roger at Couch's and he was great. He had one in stock and is sending it to me today.

Thanks again for your help.

Yup, sounds like yours is missing, so taking the whole thing apart would have been your next step.

I always carry a hose plug (like this) in my trailer.  Long ago, someone on another forum suggested it as a just-in-case should the occasion arise that I can't get the city water valve to seat.

I've never needed it personally, but I've twice had friends with brand new trailers (not r-pods) who've had a fountain spraying out the street side of their rig.  When needed, that little plug comes in very handy.

^and I should add: when the nearest town is a 2.5 hour round trip away, that little plug can be traded for a steak dinner and a 24 of beer Ermm
