Somehow during my last trip, the umbilical came out of the socket on my TV and dragged along the ground for quite a while. It was ground down to the point where one of the contacts was exposed and scraped up a little bit. It still works, but I'd like to replace the connector.

How difficult is it to get the old connector off so that I can replace it? It appears to be molded on, so I'm guessing it'll be somewhat difficult. I will definitely be reinforcing the socket door latch with a small bungie cord wrapped around the connector and over the door in the future.

You will need to cut the molded connector off, and wire a replacement. You can also replace the whole cord.

I have done that before, it was fairly easy to replace it.

My wife is taking it up to her monthly flea market today. All the lights and brakes work and the bungie cord is in place. I'll work on replacing it when the new connector comes in.
