My wife and I waxed our 178 by hand using Turtle wax. It took us about two hours and came out nice.

Did you use an electric buffer or just do it by hand?

Hand. The new waxes available are easy to use and effective. Interesting that on the Pod it was very evident the places that had been waxed and the places that had yet to be done. I used to have an electric buffer, but threw it away as they're unnecessary now.

My 2010 is very oxidized and chalky on the front top and rear. I have tried cleaning it by hand in the past with limited results. Here is my weekend project kit. Hopefully I will be able to get it shiny and looking new again.

Over the winter, I looked into rejuvenating gel coat, quite a bit. My front and one side (that get a lot of sun) oxidize. There are some products specifically for this however, I went "rogue" and tried an experiment. The steps are:
1. Clean very well.
2. Apply a sealer (just a wipe on application)
3. Apply wax (apply, let sit for just a minute or two, then wipe/hand buff off)
The results look as good or better than when the camper was new.
The problem with gel coat is that when it oxidizes, it becomes porous, chalky, dull and hard to keep clean. That is why the sealing step is important. It also makes waxing much easier.
I did this about 3 weeks ago and want to let it age for a bit to determine the long term success. I prefer to remain "mum" regarding the specific products until confident that the results are lasting and there are no problems. I'll be my own "guinea pig".
