Topic: hot water bypass valves Posted: 15 May 2016 at 7:42pm |
So... Before I go thorough the process of removing the bedding in my 171 to get at these valves.. This picture is via storage area - not possible to reach the valves from there...
Could someone confirm my suspicion that the three valves (inlet, outlet and bypass) are all open? I believe I need to close the bypass... This could explain why the hot water did not seem to work that well last time out... Thanks cd

The valve in the middle is open in the pic, it should be closed.

Thank's for the confirmation. I guess that explains the "warm" not "hot" water last time out.
Thanks again. cd |

The first mod that I did on our 2011 177 was to cut a hole in the luan under the mattress so I wouldn't have to go through the headache of accessing those 3 valves. I carefully cut an opening 6" by 4" directly over the valves. I then cut another piece of luan 5" x 7" and mounted it over the opening with a single 1/4" wood screw so I could simply lift the mattress, swivel the piece of wood and reach down and manuever the 3 valves to either winterize or de-winterize.

The bypass valve was open - I closed it and I now have "hot" water... The biggest pain in the whole process was re-making the bed!
jato... good idea with the access hole - another project for another day... Thanks all. cd
