I disagree with you Charlie. The hot water method is very easy and very reliable, provided there is enough of a temperature differential in the hot water and the ambient temperature. IOW, it works quite well in winter. I'm not so sure about the desert southwest in summer though. When we went to visit out daughters in Nevada and Arizona last winter, I used the hot water method. It was obvious where the liquid line was. I could feel it as the tank above the liquid level would be warmer than the tank below the liquid level.
Also, if a lot of propane is being used, simple high humidity can indicate the level. I've seen the condensation at the liquid level and below on my BBQ grill. I didn't even have to pour hot water on the tank. |
