Topic: Question about Fridge in 2016 183G Posted: 11 Jul 2016 at 1:12pm |
I thought I would start here before I took it in to the dealership to see if there was anything wrong (they have a tendency to say everything is good if it isn't officially broke yet)
I get camping turn on the fridge, hit the propane button, a bunch of clicking till it lights. Everything is good. This is only the second time I have had the trailer out and I do not recall hearing this the last time I had it out. But every 30, 60, or so minutes (not sure how long, but is has very long intervals in between each time it happens) but there is 6 or so fast clicking noises coming from the fridge like it is trying to light it self again, it wasn't windy or anything, so not sure the pilot light is going out, just wondering if this is normal and if it is just the fridge turning itself on to get cooled down again?
The clicking noises seem louder than the clicking noises it makes when trying to light the fridge the first time, but could be because I hear them in the middle of the night when it is a lot quieter outside.
Thanks for all the help, this is a great forum.

You are hearing the piezo igniter.
Ignition while operating with gas.
The controlling electronics initiates max. 3 ignition attempts in the following cycle:
25 sec. ignition, if not ok, 2 min. ventilation break
25 sec. ignition, if not ok, 2 min. ventilation break
25 sec. Ignition, if not ok, FAULT INDICATION by flashing of the fault-LED and the gas operation LED
See page TD S37 a picture of the gas burner

There was no faults, the fridge kept running, the fault LED never flashed once. So is this the fridge going out and then having to re-light itself? Is this not normal? Is is normal so it isn't always running? I have no idea. I read the fridge stuff in the manuals thread, I obviously don't understand as it didn't seem to answer my question. And it was a lot longer than two minutes in between the clicking noise.

The refrigerator is an absorption type and use a refrigerant with a very low boiling point . When this refrigerant evaporates (boils) when the flame is burning, it takes some heat away with it, making the inside food compartment cooler. It only turns on the gas when it needs to cool down your refrigerator, it does not run all the time.

The clicking is the igniter coming on to light the propane. Once the refrigerator cools to the temperature you have set, the flame is turned off. The flame does not burn all the time.
