I like much of the design of the R-Dome, but am utterly frustrated at the execution.
The tent material is flimsy, I've had it for a little over 2 years and if it lasts for another 2 years I will be very surprised. I have patched the arcing tube at the front with duct tape because the tip of the long rod ripped thru the material on insertion. There are crease lines from storage in the roof part with numerous pin holes, ok if you live where there is no rain. The skirt's mosquito netting (NOT no see-um proof) attachment to the keder rail is easily torn - and I am not an equipment abuser. Cutting a slit in the skirt for the steps is fine unless your ex-Special Forces son-in-law helps to remove the skirt and he doesn't realize the steps must be folded back in first. Now there's just a big hole in the netting of the skirt.
With practice, one person can set it up easily. The suction cups are a joke, replacing them with varying lengths of bungee cords actually works quite well, and the R-Dome is pretty stable in winds with the provided straps and SUBSTANTIAL tent stakes.
I have only seen a PahaQue side tent on a Scamp. The material is proper, strong tent material. It has 'no see-um proof' netting, the skirt for the R-Pod is solid so a step stool would seem to be needed to get inside. I do not know if the attachment to the side of the R-Pod is satisfactory, with the use of a keder rail segment it would seem to be.
