Sorry if this is a redundant question. I searched first but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. We just bought a 179. Based on what I have read, I am going to replace the mattress first. My wife has some health problems so finding the best mattress for us won't be easy. My two questions:
1.  If I use some type of memory foam short queen will a 75 inch work vs a 74?

2. Can I use a 10 inch thickness vs 8 in or less?

I am trying to find something that is mostly organic with little to no offgassing.
Thanks for your input.

I can't help you find an organic memory foam mattress. I don't know if such a thing exists. However, I can answer your other questions. 75" will work. It will make putting sheets and blankets on just a bit harder since it will it tighter, but it will fit. We got the 10" memory foam mattress. It is nice, but if I were to make the purchase again, I would consider getting the 8" very strongly because moving the 10" mattress to get to the water heater and water pump valves is more difficult with the 10" mattress because it is heavier and harder to bend.

Very helpful. Thanks Stephen. I found a couple of options that use mostly natural ingredients with very little offgassing that would probably work but I wasn't sure of the size.

Taking a different route check out the short queen, mattress in a roll, also called the Euro mattress.  Camping world sells them as well as others.  A bit pricey but well worth a good nights sleep.  We replaced our original mattress after 3 nights with this one back in the summer of 2011.  We average 30 nights/year with our 177 and is still as comfortable as when we purchased it.  You won't be disappointed.

Although you won't like this idea, i added a serta 3 in. thick gel foam topper over my existing bunk beds in our 172. The comfort was improved immediately. It was a cheap fix, normally 129.00 each for 40 x 75, found on sale for 59.00. they had queen toppers when we bought for 85.00. Just so you know.

We got a 2" memory foam topper to go over the mattress that came with the 180 after the first outing, I know most people dislike the stock mattress with a passion, But after the topper my wife loves it and it's been good to me also.  And if she's happy.... well you know.
