My understanding is that each trailer is weighed as it comes off the line and is the weight on the sticker on the door.

The microwave is typically installed at the factory, so the weight on the sticker would include it. As I understand it, the weight also includes an empty propane bottle and no battery.

yes I read things like that in posts both ways. some say all that stuff is installed at factory others say dealer installs. best estimate is as you said all fixed options are installed and weighed at factory except battery but only way to be sure is weighing it.

R-pod 178 unloaded Vehicle weight (UVW) is 2603 lbs. with a hitch weight of 268 lbs. These #'s factor in Fridge, and a full LP tank + one battery. Options for the microwave, 51 lbs. and AC, 95 lbs. equal a total of 2,749 lbs.

These numbers come from the 2016 brochure and can be found online in the specs. page. As closet of an estimate that you can get with out looking at the sticker of the specific Pod you are interested in. Loaded up with gear, bikes, food but no water, I guess that real towing weight would be around 3100 lbs. which would be pushing it for a tow vehicle rated for 3500 lbs.

Hello all,

New Rpodder here, looking forward to many adventures.

More relevant, it seems to me, is the weight once I've loaded up and am ready to travel. Has anyone weighed their system on the road? I see that some truck stops have scales. Can I just pay a fee and get in line with the big boys? Has anyone attempted this? How overloaded were you? ;-)

Here's what I have learned
1.Car/truck dealers dont know squat about towing and that includes the mechanic dept.
2. RV dealers know a lot about towing but have a conflicting agenda to sell RVs.
3. The max trailer weight spec should not be exceeded.
4. Trailer tongue weight should be 10 - 15% of trailer weight
5. Trailer tong weight can be controlled by moving cargo around.
6. WD hitch can increase the TV allowable tong weight
7. WD is not needed if the trailer is not near the max trailer spec if the rig is running near level
8. Frontal area matters for stress on the TV engine & trans  and mpg
9. Streamlined trailer can increase the allowable frontal area spec
10. Trailer breaks and sway control are important.
11. There are as many opinions on line as there are electrons in the internet.
12. Most credible on line opinions are those experienced with your type TV and TT
