We bought one of the expanding rods that goes across the car/SUV/truck and hooks on to the hook or grab handle. It is like having a second, larger closet on which to hang things. Since we were carrying bulky winter clothing, it came in handy. I see it being useful in summer also.
We got the Bell Automotive Ultra Clothes Bar. |

Yepper, during my 2 months stay in Pod, while working in AL, I used back of crew cab as closet, same concept, clothes bar across grab handles. Took my worn outfit out to truck every night, brought next day outfit in, was ready in am. I can move clothing to one side and still have space for Buck, my English Bulldog in rear seat. Advise a good clothes bar not a cheap one. The only other mod I did was add 6' by 16" wire shelves at front and rear of my 178 above the curtain valances. I stabilized them with wood closet rods from side to side. Created a lot of storage space. Again I it is a 178 so I didn't have rear kitchen or a side dinette. Bed is in back and dinette is in front, so worked for me. Thanks.

someone asked how we anchor the bungee cords---I installed a small hook eye in 2 corners of the shower at the right angle vertical wall intersection(rear and front walls) about 6" above the average height of the hanging clothes. I hook each end of the bungee to each hook eye. the rod goes from over the shower to over the toilet and is removable. it is as high as possible and still allow a coat hanger to fit.
other storage ideas- we use tucker totes to hold food items-they slide under our bed we use tucker totes for bedding(pillows, blankets, sleeping bag) that also slide under the bed we use an ice chest located in the back of our tow vehicle to keep cold drinks and vegetables when we are travelling, all of the dish soap, scrubbers, etc travel in 3 nested plastic dish pans sitting in the sink take less and make everything do double duty to the extent possible Vann |
