The arms on my 179 Thule awning never seem to get completely straight. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Mine are the same way, I think that must be normal.

Was wondering the same thing about my Thule....the included "picture" instructions are worthless. Why don't they include any words with them? The official Thule video is about as worthless. Does it stress the arms when fully extended or does it provide more rigidity when bent? Also, the instructions and video show putting out the legs when the awning is rolled out at 3'. Then what? Is there a maximum angle of the awning verses the front of the camper? In other words, how far can the awning angle down toward the ground before something gives? These are questions I have for Thule and anyone else here....seems like we're all in the woods on this thing.

What is the model number of the Thule awning? I saw one video for the Omnistor 5200 which shows braces for the awning arms. Are they on the one that comes with the R-Pod?

Instructions say 5200 LCI but it doesn't show those braces. Will open the awning and see if they are there. Guess those will help in the final set-up. Still concerned about the angle. Wil experiment this weekend at Merchant Millpond SP...maiden voyage for Podzilla!

I think that is the correct video for the awning but I didn't notice the small angle braces in the ceiling when I set mine up and the dealer didn't show them to me. They did show me how the legs operated and mine has brackets on the side of the trailer that you can put the leg bottoms in and angle support the awning.

The brackets on the side of the trailer will provide a great deal of support. It is better than having them rest vertically on the ground. Perhaps this substitutes for the braces shown in the video.
