It could be that the washer in the tank opening broke down.

Grill hoses use a very large fitting. When I had to lengthen our 179's hose, I bought a hose with an inverted flare fitting, intended for a regulator built into an RV. The regulator on our Pod uses an NPT fitting, so I also bought a Camco inverted flare to NPT adapter.

Thank you. I checked out that site, and when I need another hose, I will look at them again. When Mr. Heater replaced the one hose under warranty, they sent one with the older style fitting. I will replace it with a hose with the Acme nut so I don't have to reach for a wrench when I need to change a tank.
