Topic: Maiden Voyage - Newbie Edition Posted: 27 Apr 2017 at 1:15pm |
Well, after almost 2 solid weeks of ownership, we're FINALLY hitting the dusty (muddy after all this rain) trail. It's been sitting in the driveway taunting me this whole time. We're R Pod newbies, RV newbies, so I'm fully expecting the learning curve to be, well, curvy. But that's ok. I THINK I've covered all the bases, thanks almost entirely to this forum. We're de-winterized (-ish), have gone over the whole Pod, stocked it, and I've put together several check-lists. Heck, I even got a 3/4" socket for my cordless impact so I can crank the leveling jacks up and down and look like I know what the hell I'm doing. Also curious how the slide-in awning thingy works--guess we'll find out.
I'm anxious to get this thing set up, kick back, listen the creek, and crack open a frosty beverage.

Sounds like a good plan. a few things you probably know, but just in case. Put that frig on propane for the drive and i would start it before you leave so it will be cold. also, the jacks are for leveling, so easy with that impact! hope you have some chocks so you dont roll into that gurgling creek. And if you forget something, you are very normal and you can usually find what you need nearby. just remember the beer. Everything else can wait.

Good luck & safe travels!
After a time or three out, you'll be a "pro" at this stuff.

We did our maiden voyage this March and the R pod is so easy that it only took my wife and I 10 to 15 minutes to set up. This trailer is awesome. Injoy your trip. Welcome to the group.

Well, we made it back from our maiden voyage. Fantastic weather and campground, but ran in to a couple of issues with the R Pod. We sprung a leak somewhere under the sink, made a nice slippery wet floor. Also, for some reason the fridge had a blinking red light on LP, but seemed to work fine on both AC and DC. It's always something......... :/
