The CO detector in our pod won't quit sounding the alarm after I put the battery back in while de-winterizing. Pod was stored under a tarp with moth balls placed around to discourage mice.
Could the detector be picking something up from the moth balls? It's been airing out for two days and the detector won't quit except for a few minutes when I hit the "mute/test" tab. Any ideas? |

When we first got our 179, the co detector kept going off. We took it out and had the dealer test it and it was bad so they replaced it and all has been quiet since. Supposedly according to the tech they had a bad batch of them.

This one is in a 2015 179 that we bough last year and used it all summer. Detector was fine until I put the battery back in after winter. I guess that could have triggered the defect. Thanks.

So....disconnected battery and shore power, left the windows open for awhile and reconnected. Light green, beeping gone. Left it that way all day and still good.
Storm coming, so closed up the pod. An hour later, red light is on and alarm sounding again, and it smells of moth balls again. I think the detector is picking up the moth ball odor. |

Moth balls are either Napthalene or Paradichlorobenzene based. Both are petroleum products. I am not surprised that either would set of the propane detector. I wonder how many instances of bad CO2/Propane detectors are just that they can't differentiate between propane and other products used by owners?
