I need help!  I just purchased a new R-Pod 180 and need to attach a towel bar and a small chrome shelf in the bathroom.  The towel bar and shelf both came with screws and drywall anchors, but the walls in the R-Pod are not drywall - they are a thin plywood with a thin wall-paper type coating, aren't they?

I'm scared to death to put a hole in the wall.  Do I need to use the anchor plugs or just the screws? I need explicit instructions. LOL

Before anyone advises me to use Command Hooks, let me explain that I used those in my 2011 RP-177.  I live in Georgia, and when it got very hot weather, the weight of what hung on a couple of the command hooks bubbled the wall-paper layer from the plywood so that the command hook was stuck only to a bubble of air underneath the wallpaper.  In other words, it separated the "wallpaper" from the plywood, and I had to "fix" the bubble.  If what you're hanging has a little bit of weight to it, surely a screw is better than a Command Hook, right?

I would appreciate any advice I could get.  Thank you in advance!

YES, you are correct unless you are mounting into the aluminum studs. Anything that carries weight will require an anchor. I think Stephen H did a good post on anchors he uses which I also have found good. You can't just screw into the wall, it won't last. Be careful drilling, you don't want to poke into the outside wall. On the inside be careful of wiring and water lines.

Thank you mcarter.  Got it!  I will search for Stephen H's post on anchors.

This will not help you situation but I bought strips of exterior grade velcro. It sticks to everything almost. It will definitely hold but it does have limited applications. Works great on flat surfaces where item to be mounted has a flat service.

Thanks.  I do use velcro to hang my clock.  It keeps the clock from moving when traveling, but easy to take down to change the battery.

#8 size screw-in drywall anchors with the "self-tapping" point cut off work well.  Pre-drill a pilot hole.  Easy to plug, too, if you ever move the item or sell the 'Pod...
