I'd like to install a combo dc outlet/usb outlet/voltmeter and I have a couple of questions.  Do I need to run it out of the fuse box with its own 5 or 10 amp fuse, or should I  just tap into the nearest 12 volt line?  Also, where are some of you, especially 180 owners, putting these devices?

Thanks

JWB,
I put my volt meter in my 180 just above the outdoor light switch and use the outdoor light switch to turn it on, if it's not on a switch it will blaze all night.
I put 1 USB outlet down near the electrical plug by the refrigerator and tapped into the furnace 12V for power. and use the little shelf in front of the fridge to set my phone while charging.  And I put the another USB outlet below the TV/antenna outlets, tapping into the radio power. I added a shelf above the window and that is where we set plugged in things. I also have one in my nightstand.
It would always be better to give it a home run to the elec panel but any hot 12v wire works.
You can see where I put them in my mod thread .

I did the same in my 180.

I used the 12v supply to the radio to power it.

Thanks, like both of your mods.  What type of wire do you use for the 12 volt?  2 conductor cable or 2 single conductor wires?  I'm guessing either #16 or #18.

I use 14 or 16 gauge stranded wire, single or multi conductor for anything I do that is light duty, works good so far. I found that trailer 4 wire works well and leaves me options for multi wiring anything.
