Does anyone use this integrated WDH/sway control (Eaz-Lift Recurve3 by Camco)? It is the system sold and installed by our dealer. I don't feel very comfortable with the tutorial they gave us at the very end of our walk-through. I've been looking online for a YouTube video and/or owner's manual but am coming up with nothing. I'll telephone Camco on Monday morning for suggestions, but in the meantime - anyone here use it who is wiling to explain the step-by-step hitching process? TIA

At a glance, it looks similar to an Equal-I-Zer or Fastway E2 WDH with integrated sway control (but oddly inverted). It may be fine, but these other brands are better known, at least on this forum. Just as known quantities you might want to go with one of them. But see what others here say....

After viewing a couple of videos I found, I think there are some features I like. Other features may prove to be problematic. I am not sure about the ball detent sway control thing. I'm also not sure about being able to just turn a lever and turn it on and off. It seems to be some unnecessary complication. I don't know how durable the system would be.
That being said, I can see where if you have to maneuver the TV and trailer in tight situations, hitching and unhitching with it at an extreme angle, the Camco hitch might be useful. However, once the hitch bars have pivoted beyond the detents, it would seem that there is no means for the hitch to try to force the trailer back in line. For sway control, I am teaming the Hayes electronic No-Sway with the Equal-i-zer hitch I already have. If I could see some comparisons on effectiveness of the Camco hitch with the E2, Equal-i-zer, and Andersen hitches in actual tests, it would let us know if the Camco hitch is a viable alternative to the others. |
