Good afternoon All, I was wondering who has had a 30 amp pedestal installed at their house just for the Pod? I'm think about doing that but was wondering about the approx. cost. Thanks, Marty

I installed a 30 amp 110 outlet just below my electrical panel on the inside of my garage, Since I park my pod in my driveway the cord reaches to it. Cost about $20 in parts and it took about an hour and a half to do. It's not on a pedestal away from the house though.

Why not plug into 120VAC with an adapter? Usually that's a 15 amp breaker, but the breaker could be changed to a 20 amp easily enough.

Unless you want a guest to use the Pod and need microwave and A/C at the same time??

I'm not sure of a reason to have the 30 amp outlet at home except to avoid an adapter dongle?

M&M,

I have one. The cost varies. You have the box, the outlet, the wire to the CB box and the CB. Many places want you to get a permit and have a certified electrician install. I love mine. I can fully power my Pod 24/7, 365. I can use Pod as extra bedroom and a man-cave. Guessing I would say less than $400, but that is the top end.

Hi Pod People!

What do you think of getting a battery charger (auto shop) to charge the batteries before a trip. Just plug into the wall?  Will that work?  I think they cost around $60.00.

We have two 12v batteries on ours, and when we come back from a trip, we pull them from the pod, and put the batteries on a stand in the garage.

I wire them in series, and put a 24V charger on them about once or twice a month when we're not using the pod. It's a smart charger, so it trickles in juice until the batteries are "full", then it waits a while for the voltage to decay to the point where they need a little more juice. I will usually let it work on them overnight, then I put a note on them to remind me of the last time I juiced them up.

That would charge battery. Remember you have to maintain battery, either charged or disconnected, not good to just charge prior to travel, then let it set connected until next trip. That's why I keep Pod with power attached and use on board charger.

I had a 30 amp RV outlet installed and I believe it cost around $200. The closest 110v outlet required using an extension cord as well as an adapter. I wasn't comfortable with the arrangement and I still remove the battery when I winterize.

+1. 

Installed right under my breaker panel. Did it myself. Cord reaches from my driveway. The only other thing is blocking the garage door from closing that last inch and pinching the cord.
