    Posted: 11 Jul 2017 at 11:35am
I'm new to my 178, a 2014 model.  I bought it about a month ago but have been out of town most of the time and haven't gotten to mess with it much.

I know the dealer told me what this switch is, but I can not remember what it does.
Can someone help??

OK, I've forgotten how to post a picture of the switch.
It's a small ON/OFF rocker switch just to the left of the slide room switch.

Thanks in advance,
JIM

Could it be your outside light? We have a 179 and our outside light seems to be in the same general location...

HEY!  Thanks for the help!!  And I figured out how to post the picture!!!

Yes, it's the outside light.  I was afraid it had to do with something important and I was going to get myself in a bind if I got messing with the switch.

Finally getting a few days to actually take our first Pod trip!

Thanks again!

It's the switch-that-I-always-accidentally-leave-on-all-night-because-the-light-only-shines-outside.

That is a good thing.  Back in the "old days" when we bought our 177 in 2011 all the bulbs were incandescent and took a fair amount of juice out of our batteries to run.  We replaced them all that summer (L.E.D.'s were a lot pricier then) and made a huge difference on how many days we could dry camp before switching from one battery to the other.  Our 12v deep cycle group 24 batteries are going on year 7 and we can expect 3 - 3.5 days per battery when night temps are in the upper 30's to upper 40's, the furnace is the big user, fridge and hot water run on propane.
