Topic: 18 volt drill Posted: 01 Sep 2017 at 3:45pm |
Picking up r pod tomorrow.
Was told by dealer that I could use an 18 volt drill to adjust leveling jacks, which I have.
My question is - do I need a certain bit/socket for the drill? and if so what size?
thank you, Jack

Jack, I use a 20v Sears Craftsman on the slow "power" setting. I use an adapter I think I got at one of the auto parts stores that one end shanks into a drill and the other end is a socket "male" in 3/8". Then I just put the 3/4" socket on it. PIcture below.

CAMCO makes a socket for stabilizers that has a bit end for electric drills, cheap, it is 3/4"

We just use the "manual" wrench that came with our R-pod.

I took the crank off of my tongue jack and replaced it with a 3/4" nut. My drill runs it up and down easily. Electric tongue jack...

By replacing the tongue jack handle, can you open the tailgate now?

I have a rear door instead of a tailgate, but taking off the crank makes very little difference in any kind of clearance. If an inch or so would make the difference for you, it might work.

BTW, the jacks on the pod are not leveling jacks. They are for stabilization
only. use the tongue jack along with something under a tire for leveling

Timely reminder. New folks reading this thread may get a costly wrong impression. Thanks.
