I would love to unload on pest with a 12 gauge but I know the ones I miss will be right back. How do you deal with cooking and eating outside and flys?

I was told that the horse fly is the state bird in Texas and it is illegal to shoot them.Clap

I saw something at Harbor freight called an electronic fly swatter. Looks like a swatter with a battery for zapping.

That is a toughy!  In Northern Michigan we go from black flies, to no-see-ums, to mosquitoes (the state bird of the UP of Michigan) and stable flies, and yes all are miserable, and when they are out in force, I put the gun away and stay INSIDE, otherwise I may lose my sanity, and all my blood.

We bought a n REI screen tent, and keep the zap-racket handy as it kills wasps and yellow jackets without releasing their make-the-hive mad pheromones. The tent fits over most campground picnic tables.

If it's really insect-ridden I'll stay inside and drink more wine.
