Another member said they converted their dinette to a couch and I was intrigued.  I use my 'Pod as a hotel room when I'm at a disaster.  So, I want a place to relax and watch TV at night.  Not relaxing to sit at a table.

After some thought and measuring, I came up with a platform and had cushions made for this:

Here is the platform with the cushion on it.  The top is 3/8" birch plywood; the structure is 1 x 2 "whitewood" with glued and nailed connections.  It ended up VERY stable and sturdy.

Looks cool and cozy!

But couldn't you use the standard table folded down as the middle support?  It's the support for the dinette bed, isn't it?

I could have, but I wanted shorter, lighter, storage space and access to the 120V plug underneath. The table, when folded, blocks easy access to the plug. My platform weighs right at half the weight of the table. The center cushion was supposed to be a little shorter, so the couch would be more U-shaped, but the shop made it longer. I need it ready by the 30th, so no remakes.

We made the same change to the dinette in our new trailer.  My wife made cushions for the back and bottom.  We used the table top in its bed position for the middle bottom of the couch.  The pedestal tubes are stored under the couch on top of the wheel well of the Sonoma, using a rack I fabricated.  The couch set up gives a really nice seating area to pass time inside the trailer.  We've gotten so accustomed to the couch that we hardly ever set up the dinette anymore. Like Colt, we have a couple folding table trays [look like the same ones] that we use as a quick and easy table for eating if we need to stay inside.
