I measured my 177 tongue weights today with an etrailer tongue weight scale.

No water in tank, under bed cargo filled with usual stuff:  350#
Full water tank, NO under bed cargo:                               300#
Full water tank, under bed cargo filled with usual stuff:    250#

Everything else is static in weight and position:  propane tank half full, battery box, interior stuff.  The spare tire is mounted underneath the dinette area.

Good data.

The 250lbs means your tongue weight is well under 10% under that load condition. Not good.

I suggest you go weigh the full trailer too so you know what that is. Then move some stuff so you get then tongue weight up to at least 10%, preferably 11%.

I'd have to pile everything I want to take into the front dinette area of the RPod to achieve the 10-11%.
That is a big issue with my 177 I just really don't like.

Yes, I could carry less water but I boondock and don't want to carry less water.  I could use water jugs in the dinette area, I guess, but what a pain.

And yes, I need to weigh the full trailer.

Evidently, other 177 owners don't worry about the 10-11% tongue weight?

Just got back from a short trip with our 177 and after reading the above went out to weigh our tongue weight.

Loaded except only have 50% of a full water tank.  Tongue weight 370 lbs.
Loaded ready to travel with 100% full water tank - pod weighs in at 2960 lbs.
This includes two 12v deep cycle group size batteries at 88# and 2 full 20# propane tanks at 74# on tongue.  We special ordered our 177 without: A/C, entertainment system, microwave/convection oven so this will result in a lighter empty trailer weight.  Will go outside and fill the water tank and see what difference it makes in tongue weight.

With full FW tank - tongue weight is 315#.
Just shy of that 11% that OG recommends.  I know I can take the 2.5 ton floor jack from the rear storage of the 177 and place it in front under the table.  That should increase tongue weight enough to be over that 11% thresh hold.

The two of you have essentially the same trailers. A full propane cylinder weighs about 40 lbs which would put your tongue weights only about 25 lbs apart. Since no two trailers are identical, there are always measure measurement errors, and your loads are going to be different that's about as close as you could expect. That's why I suggest shooting for 11% rather than the "standard" 10%, it gives you around another 30-35 lbs of leeway.

Just shows how us boondockers can quickly hit our towing limitations when we fill our fwt's. I have trouble keeping my tongue weight down to 500 lbs on my 179, you guys have trouble getting yours up to 300.

Geewizard, depending on what your trailer weight out at, you might want to add a second propane cylinder like Jato has. You could also consider moving something heavy out of your storage to your Tundra. The truck has plenty of extra capacity.
