Topic: Rpod Cover Questions Posted: 29 Aug 2016 at 3:01pm |
I store my 179 on my driveway under several large trees. I am thinking about getting a cover and would like any advise on advantages and disadvantages before I decide. Thanks in advance.

Advantages: Keeps it cleaner. The one we got has a white top which should help reflect heat and keep it cooler.
Disadvantages: Somewhat of a pain to put on and take off. It is not a one-person job. Also, sharp edges such as the ones on the TV antenna wings need to be covered to avoid snagging and ripping the cover. A pool noodle cut to length and split works well there. Shorter pool noodle sections are good for the slide-out rain gutter ends as well as the rail ends at the bottom of the R-Pod which can also snag the fabric. Even with all that, I like the cover. As soon as I finish getting our 179 cleaned up from our last trip, I will be putting ours on again. |

StephenH, thanks, I am leaning towards getting one and like your advise. Which cover did you get?

I, too, have that cover and it is challenging to put on and take off by yourself, but it can be done. I've done so a couple of times already this season, myself. One just needs to plan ahead (and move the step ladder several times).
As StephenH mentioned, it has a white top that does help considerably. I usually crack the bathroom vent a tad and open the other windows a bit after I put the cover on (there is a zipper the should line up with your door--make sure you get the cover that matches your model). Getting it on is somewhat easier than taking off. Just make sure you watch for your antenna and not snagging on the other roof items. |

I also have a Classic Accessories cover for my 179 and have used it for over a year. The company was great when my first cover developed holes from rubbing against the spots that others have mentioned. They actually sent me a new cover. Besides the pool noodles, I put some Gorrila Tape on the inside of the cover where the rubbing had occurred on the first cover. Just a little extra insurance. IMO the cover is worth the price.

That is actually a lot less than I expected. The one I was looking at was over 200.00. Many thanks.
