Hello Podders,

i am currently towing my Rpod 180 with a 2002 Ford Escape V6

i will be in the market for a new (used) car/truck soon - i.e. within the next year, and i'm wondering what you use for towing your Rpods?

i'm kind of a Ford/Nissan/Honda/Toyota person
not a big fan of chevy/GM products

I have a 2017 R- Pod 178 that I tow with a 2009 Toyota Highlnder 4x4, 3.5L V6, factory trailer tow package (rated at 5,000 lbs tow capacity), WHD hitch and sway bar. We recently returned from a 1800 mile trip thru mountain passes, winds and 90 degree temperatures. I couldn't be happier with the Toyota.

We tow our 2016 179 with a 2012 Toyota Highlander V6 with tow package. It gets stuck on soft ground occasionally because it's FWD, but we've never had an issue with it on the road and it has handled just about every mountain grade we've thrown at it. The only time we couldn't maintain the speed limit was on a couple of 9% grades.

We will be towing with a 2012 F150. It has the 5.0 engine it . Even thought it is a four wheel drive we are averaging 18.4 MPG. This is a combination of highway and city. Does anybody have an idea what we can expect when we start towing the new 179 when we get it?
