We have had good luck with a grill called a Notebook grill which I purchased on line and if interested I can find the company. They come in SS or black metal. Very light weight and very easy. The whole thing folds flat and is easy to use. The whole issue with charcoal is knowing how to judge the temperature of the coals and that is trial and error for most of us. I use a charcoal chimney to start my coals and then transfer to the gril. This grill is light and I had the local awning guy make me a bag for it. I keep it in the pass thru storage area with other items stacked on top, it is that flat. I alway premeasure my charcoal into two gallon zip lock bags, one for each meal and one extra for emergencies. These go in a storage box under the front bunks in our 176. I'll try posting a picture. Good luck.

Another vote for the O-grill 1000. Folds up and packs away nicely. Cast Iron grates and easy to clean.

I did get the fold and go, Its made in America. to get around the problem with gas versus charcoal (charcoal always tastes better) you can do a smoking pouch. I did it before I bought a Big Green Egg and cooked on a Ducane gss grill. Simple take your favorite wood chips, soak in warm water for a bit, drain and then make an aluminum foild pouch, poke holes in it an lay on the burner, shortly smoke with flavor will start making it way out. I have used this for years when cooking with gas and it makes a big difference.

I don't use starter fluid. I use a chimney to start my coals. One sheet of newspaper and your coals are good to go in minutes! |
