LED's come in varying light output.  They are not all created equal.
Here are some that put out 190 lumens.  I've seen some that only put out 40 lumens.
Also they come in bright white and warm white, I prefer the warm.

I've used these (5050) types and IMO they are equivalent to old bulbs.  12 devices for each lamp is adequate lighting. Warm lighting is my preference.  You can gat 1210 types with MANY more devices but they generate too much heat. Also the price is right!

This is what I bought from ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261319524030?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

They are pretty bright. I also bought a cheaper version (10-SMD) from the same vendor but it's not as bright. I like these better.

The instruction says if it doesn't light up the first time, try switching it around since these LEDs only work with correct polarity.

Cheers,

This was my preference after much research and actually trying several cheaper models.

I prefer the warm white color.  This model uses 5050 SMD LEDs, are polarity insensitive, and use resistors to limit current. The latter is important in RV applications where the voltage can vary from 11.5 to 14.5 volts.
And since individual LEDs are highly directional the 18 SMD tower geometry helps to distribute the light.
