Have You Done Any Mods?

   Here's the list so far,
1. Mounted Toolbox on tongue--Have matching one to add dual batteries later.2. Added 7ft sewer carrier
3. Added disconnect switch for battery-plan to add 6 volt plug
4. Bought risers-need to take in for installation
5. Made Stove cover
6. Put railing above the refrigerator
7. Installed Netting for dishes and shoes
8. Muffled water pump
9. Use Air mattress on top bunk and double mattress on bottom
10. Use 3 ton Jacks for front stabilizers (they go in the toolbox when not in use)
11. Use small iron style table instead of one provided
12. Made access to storage near sink more user friendly
13. Stained untreated wood
14. Use tarp holders and bungee to secure tire cover.

Projects for spring
1. Privacy curtains for bunks
2. Block out curtains for windows
3. Desk/Riser for upper bunk
4. Add railing and ladder for upper bunk
5. Add lifter to bottom bunk and maybe make access door.
6. Add access doors to back storage (from inside).
7. Add shelves or cabinets above windows
8. Add netting for storage for bottom bunk
9. Create extension from sink over couch for more counter space and/or replace that cushion area with a cabinet.
10. Finish connecting powered pc speakers (have wrong connector)
11. Purchase generator.

 One of my biggest mods this year was for my truck, having a way to transport two 80lbs Tricycles and not use the whole truck bed.

	Permanent podmods: - Removed original jack and added a swing-up jack (too low even when cranked all the way up). - Removed the hose storage tube (too low, I already had a large tool box for the hose anyway). - Removed 1 of the 2 light bulbs in the fixture above the queen bed (171), probably will add a dark-colored gel to cut the light level even more (we only use that fixture when we are getting ready for bed and the kids are trying to sleep). - Added a battery disconnect. - Added a paper towel holder in kitchen area. - Removed the metal mini-blinds and will put curtains in their place by spring. - Created black-out blinds for each window, which will go behind the decorative blinds and be removable during the day, probably with magnets. - Added industrial-strength velcro at key spots to keep the shower curtain from sticking or billowing. - Removed the post+slot thing under the table that is supposed to keep it from moving during travel (kept scraping my calf; the table hasn't moved at all w/o it). Non-permanent podmods: - We use a foldable step overnight so its easier for me to step over my wife if I have to get out of bed in the middle of the night - this is my only major complaint about the layout of the 171 and the only reason I wish we had the 177 instead (same layout but with the slide-out... which was announced a week after we picked up our 171 ). The step folds flat and sits on the bed during the day. - Built a cover for the stove so it can be used as a counter area. - Added a "shoe tree" that hangs on the outside of the shower door. This gives us 16 pockets to hold our meds and toiletries. Can be moved to the inside of the door for a cleaner look when people ask for a tour (often). - Added 3M wall hooks in the queen bed area, kitchenette, and by the front door to hold towels, hand towel, and jackets. - Added memory foam to the queen bed. - Added portable jack stands to support the front of the 'pod in camp (too much sway w/o them, now its rock-solid) Podmods for the future: - Probably will unblock the 2nd outlet inside the fridge compartment, so I have a convenient place to plug in a light on the street side of the 'pod. - Will add additional shelves, possibly with additional outlets or permanently mounted extension cords to each shelf (need areas for all the electronic gadgets to sit and charge overnight). - Considering cutting a 3" hole under the shower, and then adding a small biscuit fan to force fresh air to come from the existing vent under shower floor (we had a lot of condensation this fall and keeping a window and the vent open only helped some but also drew cold air right were we were sleeping; the existing vent fan is too noisy, uses too much power, and moves too much air to use overnight). - Might move the table leg so the table rests against the front wall. - Need to add a shorter plug in the fresh water tank drain (sticks out way too low). - Might remove the pull-out step assembly and use a portable step instead (also is too low, I've already had to bend it back into shape once after scraping on my driveway). - Probably will move the switch for the water heater's electric element inside. - Might reconfigure the storage area under the queen bed so the area at the back-left is accessible from the outside storage compartment.

	On our 172 we've done the following: 1. Added front stabilizers 2. Replaced both bunk mattresses 3. Reinforced lower bunk storage compartment lid and added lift cylinders 4. Trimmed dinetted storage compartment lid so it could be opened without removing cushions 5. Added lift cylinders to the dinette storage compartment lid 6. Installed 110V water heater switch with pilot light inside 7. Installed half-round molding to upper bunk rail to keep from scraping legs 8. Installed baffle and fan in fridge compartment to help efficiency in hot weather 9. Made a cover for the stovetop so it can be used as counter space 10. Installed XM radio 11. Made wall mounted storage pockets for bunk area 12. Mounted a mirror on the outside of the privvy door 13. Added a second battery
