Five yr old 181g . The fridge touch pad will not light up or get cold on coldest ( 4 lights) . Stays on two middle lights only. So temp won't go below about 46.
Is this something I can repair myself. I'm a handy person.
Thanks for any input.Ouch

Going to guess it's the control board and eyebrow pad, fixable, but costly.

Ours is brand new ad gets well above 40 degrees in hot temperatures. I think that's just RV fridges but maybe I'm wrong? We were in 109 degrees heading to the Sierras to Shaver Lake and it broke 50 at times.

It should be able to maintain safe temps at all times. It was 97F here yesterday, freezer was at 10F and the fridge at 33F.

Did you have it set to high cool? that means the most lights lit, which is backwards from what it seems it should be. What were the freezer temps? How full was it? did you add warm food? Did you check the pancake fans in the back? Did you move the thermistor up a bit on the cooling fins?

Haven't checked the fans or moved the thermistor. Do you mean the external digital temperature sensor that I added, or is there an internal thermistor I should look for. Fridge is on max cool and freezer temp has been between 9-26 mostly but we did have melted ice pops recently. Fridge got up to 41 on our last trip in the high 70's. I suppose overfilled could be subjective. Our first trip we did pack it as full as we could, after that we realized that may be an issue. Maybe I should Youtube how to pack an rv fridge.

Thanks for The great thoughts Furpod.

Thermistor seems to be at the bottom left side of the coils, is that good or bad?
Could not locate any fans. Opened 2 rear vents, maybe they're encased? With the number of minor mistakes, missing screws and popped rivets we already have, nothing surprises me.

Correction, that's the temp sensor on the fins, I'll locate the thermistor on the coils. New to this, not expecting to become a diagnostic technician for fridge's quite yet, but curious to understand them regardless. Appreciate all the help.

Cheers!

Caliman,

there should be a box fan there, mine has one, located at mid point in fridge box from outside.

We had a similar problem until we moved the temp sensor up to the top of the coils.  By doing this both pancake fans would come on quite frequently.  Something I never heard the first 2 years I owned our 177.  On hot days it is not uncommon for the pancake fans to come on every 5 minutes or so for about 30 seconds.  The result, cold fridge and colder freezer.
