I mentioned a few months ago that I've been staying active in my admin role here (like approving new members), but not keeping up with posts or posting much myself because of other things going on in my life.  Mostly a kitchen remodel which I've been doing a lot of work on myself.  Then I was in vacation mode over the summer with two vacations, including a cruise and then trip to SC to see the eclipse in totality.  That was awesome.

In more recent months things have turned a bit darker for me.  Namely, the beginning stages of a divorce that I didn't see coming.  This has been most unfortunate for my two teenage daughters, but they have adjusted much better than I was expecting.  I've adjusted to it, too, but I'm in uncharted territory.  You could say the eclipse was a metaphor for where my life was going - a lot of excitement and then you realize you are in the dark.  It will be a while before the light starts to reappear on the other side.

On top of this I needed surgery a week ago to repair a hernia.  So not major, but still added stress and physical pain.  I'm fortunate that I'm already back to normal with no pain.  And with a lifting restriction for a few more weeks I have the perfect excuse to make my kids go get the firewood now that it is finally cold where we live.  Wink

Many of you have been part of my extended online family for the last 8 years here, so, send a prayer my way if you can, or if you don't pray, send some good vibes.  I appreciate it.

Wow. Sorry for all the troubles. But I will comment that FB will suck out anything else from your life. I just won't do FB. Period.

I'm about to take another extended break from Facebook. While I like the R-Pod group and the Legion group and VFW group, it is all the other stuff that comes with it that I dislike intensely. While this forum is not perfect (posting pictures is not exactly easy), I don't like handing my photos over to Facebook. My home photo hosting is working well.

I'm really sorry to hear about the bad things and will lift up a prayer for you and your family.

Techntrek,

Both vibes and prayers, I have been on your journey, you'll survive, close one door opens another. Think positive.

Doug,
Sorry to hear your situation, but good on ya for putting it out there.  Not something to be shameful about and hide.
Times will get much better, from my common experience.
Same as you, divorce shock  with two teenage daughters in the mix, over a decade ago.
My now grown daughters and I are so close today even though we live miles apart.  They both called me today.  It is very good with me and my girls.  I feel like a very successful dad, and they prove it in their lives.
Hernia, dual inguinal surgery, I had that done last year.
Eclipse, yep, I watched it from my back deck.
Hang in there.
Above all, hold in the anger from your kids view.
You have done a lot of good things, and I have no doubt you will continue to help people.
I watched a movie years ago when I was feeling like you do now that helped me in an oblique way.  I even bought it and watch it yearly.   Maybe you might benefit too.
It has a lot of life metaphor's in it if you dig deep enough.
Consider watching "An Unfinished Life" as you go through "Manopause".   (That's what I called my unpleasantness).
Prayers from me in Wyoming for your tough times.  Prayers have power.
There is another happier side coming for you, it just takes awhile.
In fact it all happens way to slow at the first part of the process when you are wanting it to all be over with so you can move forward.
Best regards

Sorry you have to go through all that, but you will emerge a stronger, more knowledgeable person. "That which does not kill us will make us stronger"! Prayers.
