My wife and I hope to make it out to Boulder Colorado sometime this summer so we both can visit where she grew up. I've looked at Good Sam Travel Guide and searched online but it seems like there all there is nearby is State campgrounds and as to which one to camp at I haven't a clue??? I know we will be going to nearby Nederland where her father and mother built a cabin in the mountains there so any where around there or Boulder I'm all ears for campground recommendations.

Try Golden Gate Canyon State Park or some of the spots along the Peak to Peak Hwy or maybe Brainerd lake.

Thanks! I'll check out your suggestions. The wife was talking about the Peak to Peak Hwy tonight and someplace called Estes Park? Mucho appreciated! |

Estes Park is the home of the Stanley Inn of the book the "shining" fame. On our list of things to see in the future.

Estes Park is a town that is surrounded by Park/Forest land. It's about mid-way between Boulder and Fort Collins. The Aspenglen campground in Rocky Mt. National Park is close by. I have camped in Aspenglen and liked it. It is not a large campground and there are no hookups. Also, there is no dump station. Reserve early if you go, as the sites go quickly. Aspenglen - link Here is a link (with a few pics) to a trip I made in July 2009 with my RP173. I think I stayed in site B-19. http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1050&KW=Rocky&PN=1&title=rocky-mountain-high |

PS- I thought that I remembered seeing one of these, if you really want hookups: Yogi's Jellystone However, I can't comment on it as, I didn't stay there. |

A bit further out from Boulder but not bad: St. Vrain SP and Boyd Lake SP. Still easy access to Estes Park. I've stayed at Boyd Lake. Nice CG, water and electric, very nice bath houses.

Rocky Mountain NP and Estes Park, CO are 2 of our favorite places we have been many times, but be forewarned the crowds are worse than Yellowstone. Still very much worth the trip but get up early, by 8:00 am all the parking lots are full. Last time we camped at Aspenglen very nice.

I want to thank everyone for offering me their excellent suggestion as to place to camp near Boulder. I will check out all the places everyone suggested... so thanks! I hope to take the "boss" from Boulder up to Ft. Collins where her Grandparents had a ranch and are buried and then onto Cheyenne, WY where she was born. I figure for this eastern boy it should be an interesting trip one way or another!
