After about five years our fans needed a good cleaning. Our Vibe has two fans but they are the same as the R-pods fans. Over the years I have cleaned the screens but this time I dismantled the lower part of the fan to remove fan blade. I undid the screws to lower bottom part and disconnected the wires from the switch then removed blade. I washed everything and dried before reassembling and while apart reached up around fan motor and cleaned the bottom of the vent cover. The fans look like new now they cleaned up very nice.

After nearly 7 years I did the same to our 177 last summer; as it was getting pretty grungy looking.  Looks like brand new now, took me just over an hour to disassemble, clean and put back together -  was well worth the effort as you would attest.

Any suggestions as to to get the screen off.  I looked at it in the fall and tried but gave up as I was scared that I was going to snap the frame.

I always try to pry it loose gently and it always unsnaps without breaking. But each time I too think it will break. I wouldn't bend the plastic down to far because it just may break. It is tough plastic and I don't remember hearing of someone breaking theirs. It would be nice if the manufacturer would design a screen easier to remove to clean.
