I splurged last year and got a remote. Getting old is a great excuse for another remote. Should have done it before I got old.

We have a sloped driveway. A caster wheel is not something I would want. I don't want the RPod rolling off into the lawn and down into the neighbor's yard. That would not be a good thing.

I also have a round foot that came with our electric jack. I don't use it. When I did use it, it dug into a recently paved driveway. The flip foot is a bit better in that it does not have the sharp edge since it is turned up. Consider where you intend to use it when making a choice on what to use for a foot or block.

We replaced the flip-foot with a double caster wheel. It's secured with a quick disconnect, so we can take it off while traveling. We store the caster in the garage while traveling and put it down when we're settled in camp.

Our 2011 177 had nothing on the bottom of the jack, just an open 2" pipe that would collect dirt if you didn't put something under it when jacking up.  For 10+ years I have used a piece of hemlock that is 6" x 6" x 12 " - not very heavy and has been very dependable.

I have one that I'm not using. I am using a Husky Brute foot instead. It isn't the auto-flip, but it is handy, especially since I bent the jack and had to saw some off to get it back to operating, so I have about 6" less height when fully extended. The additional height of the foot is handy.

Thanks for that info StephenH!

I'm not a fan of the flip-foot, so I won't be putting that on the new jack. It's part of what motivated me to change out the jack in the first place. I know I could have just changed the foot, but I decided to just go with the electric jack.

Remove the bolt that holds the flip foot, then the collar will slip off once the foot is removed. Then you can put the collar and foot on the new jack if so desired and replace the bolt.

I'm about to replace our flip-foot jack with an electric. I'm wondering about the metal collar that sits above the flip-foot. How is that removed?

I had a flip foot on my 171 and one time got the bolt jammed that the foot moves on when you crank it down. It literally sheared off and shot across the campsite. Fortunately, I wasn't standing in the way. From that point on, I wanted to go electric. On the 179, I spent the big bucks and got a Husky and love, love, love it. I'll never go back. If you have WDH, it is so nice to not have to crank.

Just do a search on Amazon for "Jack Foot Plate" and you will come up with several options for foot plates from low ones to tall ones. Prices are under $20 for most choices. Just make sure you get one of the proper diameter to fit the leg on your jack.
