After watching videos I finally found the connector on my 2013 Taco by feel. I did not have to remove any panels. Have faith; it's really there.

+1 on Tekonsha P3
I pull my 180 model with the same truck and installing the connector wiring to the harness for the Tekonsha brake controller is easy. You can also buy a custom fit plate for this controller that replaces the little dashboard shelf hole to the lower left of your steering wheel. Take a look at the TacomaWorld.com forum towing thread and you'll find all the information you need there for this model truck.

Bottom line: Make sure it's proportional, i.e. there should be mention of accelerometers in the product specs.
