Topic: Blackstone Grill Posted: 10 Jun 2018 at 3:25pm |
I bought 2 blackstone grills. I got the 17 inch to bring camping, and a 28 inch for home. I got them both seasoned and ready to go. Tonight, I'm breaking in the 28 inch grill with 2 succulent juicy porterhouse steaks. These things look awesome, and so much cheaper than other grills. I got my Webber Q 1000 for 200 bucks. It's a small grill, which I liked, but the 17 inch blackstone was only 60 bucks. Its just as big, maybe a tiny bit bigger, at about a third of the price. Can't wait to try them out.

We have used our 17" several times now, including almost every day this week.. Between it and our GMG smoker, we have not cooked anything in the camper this trip.. Wife did make a P, B & J yesterday inside.. LOL

Have you hooked these blackstones to the outside propane connection on the rpod or do you use the small propane bottles?

Podizzi,
Using small bottles, I do not have a outside propane connection on a 15 178. I did add a CAMCO adapter to propane tank for accessory use and I can use that to fuel grill.

Thanks Mike. Does Campco make a connection adapter for the rpod?

I run my grill, what ever type I use, straight from a 20 bottle. once or twice I had a one pound run out in the middle of cooking and didn't notice right away, that was enough for me. I don't use the external propane connection point for anything. I considered removing it, but havn't

We have hoses/connections so we can go high, or low, pressure, 20 or 1 pound bottle.
This last week at the ERU, I ran on the low pressure system. Our current TT mounts 3, 20pounders, and, has 2 low pressure connections. So we had the outside cooktop lit, the Blackstone griddle, and the GMG smoker (uses 12v and pellets), all going at once at a couple points.. and maybe even the microwave prepping a sauce..
Didn't do any dutch oven cooking, though others did..

Podizzi,
I don't have a low pressure connection on my Pod, and I don't care because I'm not going to modify my cookers to accept low pressure. I use a CAMCO adapter to add propane accessories which attaches directly to tank, that way I can use bottles or tanks. The regulator is on grill. Not quite sure why FR decided to add a low pressure propane adapter. No grill with a regulator works with it.
