We have a rug at the step an one just inside the door and we still get a lot of dirt, grass, sand, etc. we sweep a bunch. My question is this. Is there a vacuum cleaner out there that is small and will do the job? Not a dust buster.

I got one of those Shark Rechargeable Floor Sweepers like this one on Walmart.com. It is compact and does a credible job of sweeping up the dirt, grass, sand, etc. that gets in our 179.

We purchased a 1-gallon Shop-Vac from our local Fred Meyers (it was on sale for 19.99) and it has a lot of suction and fits neatly in the storage ottoman of our 179.

My Pod did, it's me. I have a broom and dust pan, no power, no recharging, works fine may last a long time.

My DW is the Queen of Clean. I don't know how she does it (other than some serious "take your shoes off!!" prodding) but our Pod seems to stay spotless.

Our biggest problem are the really small gravel driveways. The grit and sand stick to bare feet, shoe& sandels. We have mats at the stepsandone inside at the door. Remove shoesis s paining the butt. Just seeing if anybody had the miracle solution.

:) My wife is Asian - shoes are not allowed in the house, we have a shoe mat outside, I got used to it. Several times a year I do use my portable DeWalt vacuum (battery/electric)to vacuum pod, broom works good on floor but not upholstery and ledges.

I think part of the answer is some sort of mat or pad outside in front of the steps. About R-dome size should do it. That will remove a lot of what would get tracked in normally. We do have a 1 gallon stanley shop vac, plus brush and pan. I suspect a swiffer would work about as well.
