Wood River. We have the round bar, and it looks like that puts the ball a little lower. That plus our receiver is under the bumper instead of through the bump combines to lower the overall height.

Interesting numbers on your trailer capacity and differential ratios. Our 3.5L EcoBoost F-150 is rated for over 11,500 lb towing capacity, and we only have the 3.11 rear end. On the freeway, we're almost always in 6th (top) gear.

Wood River,

I do not. The owners manual doesn't recommend until trailer weight exceeds 7K. I have a shortbed crew cab, 4WD, with the 5.3 and a 3.42 axle. My max trailer weight is 9K. The owners manual is very informative. It will list in as optional. I use the friction sway bar control.

Mike, do you use a WD hitch?  Wondering if I need one now.  I really needed it with the Highlander.  I could go back to just sway control arm...  Just a thought?

Nope, the magnetic ride come on the next level up.  It does have premium smooth ride suspension with the air leveler.  Not to be confused with leveler system that will compensate for the trailer weight.  That was a little confusing for me.  I have a buddy that has the magnetic with the air leveler.  When he puts his trailer on it automatically pumps up to level the ride.  But he has a 6,000 lbs trailer.

Wood River,

I have same set up in Silverado, nice set up. I like the integrated brake controller.

Mcarter, I wasn't towing.  Just driving it home from the dealer.  It has the tow package with the 3.42 ratio axle and the integrated trailer brake.  I doubt it'll drop to 4 when towing, unless I'm headed down hill with a tailwind.  Smile

That thru bumper hitch does add some height. The trucks are under bumper. Does it have the Magnetic Ride Control?

It is. Comes with the 5.3 EcoTec3 motor, I have same motor in a 2014 Silverado Z71. Oddly the 3.08 rear diff is only option. Silverado has 3.42 which increases tow capacity. The 30 KMPG is surprising, it's rated at 2WD 15/22 and the 4WD at 15/21. I have yet to see it drop to 4 cyl mode while towing.

Yes, Tahoe is the SUV version of the Silverado pick-up.  It is the same exact rig as the GMC Yukon.
This is not mine, but shows how high the receiver.

Glue Guy, the top of the receiver is 24, so the bottom is 22.  Do you use a e2 trunnion or the round bars.  That may make a difference.  Mine looks like this.

Top of my coupler on my pod is 20ish inches from the ground.  So I need my ball top at 20 inches.  The head unit on the e2 is 5 inches +/- and the ball is a 2 5/16.  With the stock shank the lowest hole on the head in the lowest position on the shank, it only got the top of ball down to 25.  If I was not using a WD head, I would not have to drop that low to get top of ball to 20.  But with the WD head on the e2, I have to account for lots of room (5 inches) under the ball deck.  Hence this shank.  https://www.equalizerhitch.com/store/shanks/specialty-shank-2-shank-12-long-x-9-drop-13-rise

Glue Guy, if you are coming up with an idea I've overlooked, I'm all ears.  I trust your math implicitly on the tires.  The only area that I'm not 100% on is the top of coupler height.  We've had good snow here in Idaho this year.  I work hard to keep the pod clear and the area in front.  I dug down into the snow and ice to get to ground level, but my side yard is loose stone/gravel.  My 2017 green 179 HR with risers is coming out at 19.5 for top of coupler height.  It could be higher, but not much more.

As always, I thank everyone's input and problem solving.  I truly do appreciate this forum and thank all of you that keep it running so smoothly.  Thank you!
Jeff
