Hi all, buying an R Pod. Was wondering about the furnace. 20,000 btu. Figure that is gas, but think in also has a fan that needs to work. Is it a 12 volt or 110 volt fan? Thank you for any help.

The burner is gas. The fan is 12V.

Since the furnace is noisy we use a Vornado for heat.  It does a good job of keeping us warm.

Works as a fan too.  And since the A/C is really noisy we use the fan a lot when it's not terribly hot.

If we have shore power, we use a West Marine electric space heater.  If we don't have ac, we use a Kelty 2 person 20ยบ sleeping bag.  It keeps us nice and warm and in the morning I turn the noisy propane heater on and in minutes it's warm enough to get up and start the coffee.  Soon, we're opening the vent in the head and turning on the fan to cool off.  And that's when it's below freezing outside.  That little space heats up fast.

The fan is 12v, which can mean power management if you're boondocking for a few nights in cold weather.  Since Pods aren't meant for really cold camping (the plumbing is too exposed), if boondocking some people use a Mr. Buddy heater instead of the furnace.  The furnace is really loud.

When on shore power, I use a small revolving space heater when needed. When not, the noisy propane works well and quickly for most mornings.

and some people have built a heater with a small radiator plumbed through the water heater. Search around the forum, there are at least a couple of members who have built a heater from that. Using a small 12V fan makes it fairly quiet.

If the furnace is truly noisy, remove it and check the impeller clearance on the exterior side intake. Mine was rubbing the inside of a plastic shroud. When I loosen the setscrew holding the blade and moved it a fraction of an inch. It made all the difference, noise level was much lower.
