It's most likely the check valve in the water pump that is stuck or clogged. This link is a discussion of the issue.

+1 to glue guy....I had the same thing only a very slow leak from the pump into the fresh water tank.  FR replaced it under warranty though I was told the pump itself is very inexpensive

I think you can replace just the check valve, I'm not sure, but there's a good chance it's just stuck.  You may have already fixed it by filling the tank and using the pump.  Try hooking up to city water again and see if the tank still overflows.  If it does, the tank is full, so just turn the pump on (and city water off) and cycle the water off and on a few times and try again.

You can replace just the valve, or do the pump head, both available on Amazon for a few dollars, takes a couple minutes. Just google your pump model number...

I went thru a year of this issue. Cycling is right answer, but it didn't work for me. I never could figure out why check valve was not working. Finally changed water pump and problem solved.

That "couple of minutes" is after getting to the pump, which is typically under the bed. Depending on your mattress choice and any provisions you've made to make access easier, that could easily double the time.

Took R-POD out for test run last weekend ran water pump for 4 days. Got home hooked up to city water, freshwater tank getting better not filling up but water still slowly getting into tank. So I will keep working check valve. Thanks

"typically" the pump isn't under the bed.. but in the most popular model, the 179, it is. But yes, there may be time and effort involved in getting to the pump.
