What modifications have you made to make the bed more comfortable?

Hello and welcome! What RPod do you have?
We have a 2016 RP179. I have changed the mattress, first to a Zinus 10" memory foam mattress. That was too heavy and hard to move to access the valves and the under-bed storage compartments I made. Now we have a 6" Dreamfoam mattress. http://https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019EMSP5Q/ I had tried the Zinus 6" mattress, but it never expanded fully. In some parts it only got to 3". That was because  it had been manufactured about 4 months before I ordered it and it had been compressed too long. The Dreamfoam mattress is made in the USA and is apparently not compressed and rolled until ordered so it expanded quickly to full height. We have not had the opportunity to test it since our travels this year are on hold until my wife recovers from knee replacement surgery. However, I have tested it briefly after installing and it seems like it will be very comfortable.

As many others have done, replace the mattress.  This has been an ongoing issue at least since we purchased our 177 back in January 2011.  After a few 'bad' nights attempting to look at the inside of my eyeballs, which hardly ever happened, we replaced with an 8" EuroTop mattress from Camping World.  Not cheap but after 8+ years it is still just as firm and comfortable as the day we purchased it.  You won't be disappointed.

I have a 2017 178 and although we did not like the mattress as received, we added a 1" dense foam topper and then enveloped the whole thing in a quilted mattress cover from Walmart or some place like that.  Seemed to do the trick for us.

Hi -- we bought a foam mattress topper at Costco and laid it over the existing mattress.  The bed is now much more comfortable and we sleep very soundly.  One small problem w the mattress topper:  one corner curls up so our sheets don't stay put.  But  I think I can resolve this. Good luck -- enjoy your r-pod -- we certainly enjoy ours
