Topic: Best replacement for broken stabilizer jack on 178 Posted: 28 Apr 2019 at 1:29pm |
Hi,
One of the rear stabilizer jacks on our 178 was destroyed when backing up. Is there a brand of replacement jacks that is most recommended? (Ha, wouldn’t you know we just discovered the broken jack when we’re getting the rpod ready to sell...great timing.)
Thank for your help!

There are several replacements available. I've seen some at walmart. If you were keeping it, I'd recommend using the " sav a jack" system that lets you take the stabs off when not in use.

+1 for sav a jack! Here is what I installed on my 179, works perfectly.

I saw someone who just took out the bolts that hold on the jacks and replace with cotter pins for easy removal.

If you can do that, yeah. Mine were spot welded on.

Yeah. Ours too. When I first looked at Save-a-jack, I discovered that I would need an angle grinder or something similar to get the jacks off in the first place.

Harbor freight had a cheap one. 😎
You can get the old ones off easily by wiggling them back and forth, the welds will break. To smooth off the slag and get a good flat surface for the next one you'll need a grinder though.
