[QUOTE=furpod] If your state says you somehow get a 4 year warranty, regardless of the contract.. why buy an extended warranty?
If I knew then, what I know now... I wouldn't have.
Why would the dealership offer it?
It's called Sales. Personally, I don't know if even the Dealership fully understands this Law.
I also, think, near as I can tell, you intend to argue it wasn't "suitable" to use for the purposes you bought it for.. ie: camping. But it was, you camped in it. The fact that it got damaged, doesn't mean it wasn't suitable.
What the argument presented, if it comes to such, will be determined at that point. Nothing, nor any approach has been determined.
As far as underhanded, that's not what I said.
Ah, but you did, by definition of the word ' subterfuge'.
But your reluctance to contact and work with the dealer
I am in contact with the Dealer and we have agreed to weekly updates and conversation.
or FR, so as not to "show your hand" at least to me, strongly implies you intend to try to spring something on them, or catch them in some way doing you wrong. At least that's how I see it.
Then your reading into this wrong and making suppositions based on your own belief of events.
How do I explain this better.. Are you a chess player? It's a game of strategy and knowledge of the moves. The more knowledge you have, the better the opportunity of succeeding. I'm not going to tell you my next move, (nor explain my capability) I'll await yours, and determine what I need to do. Same applies here. I have said what I 'need' to say to them to let them know I have knowledge.
Again, I wish you all the luck in the world, and am very interested in the outcome. I hope you keep us updated on the proceedings and the eventual outcome/repair.
Thank you for that, but I'm not basing the outcome on luck. I do hope that all gained knowledge never has to come into play. I am hoping, all can be worked out to a reasonable repair.
I do like the approach my Dealership is taking. We have spoken about this. It's obvious it is not their first 'Rodeo'.
BTW, did you find any information on the extended warranty you purchased?
My intention there is as we proceed and I need to go in and review 'all' documentation and conversations I will ask for their copy for my review. Again, I hope not to reach this point.
I have no intention of 'springing' anything on them. And by Law, I can no do so. All intent has to be disclosed before any legal action can happen. Doing otherwise breaches 'any' warranty. Preparing for such an event is smart and legally within my rights to do.
I do have in mind a repair, of which I'd be willing to pay additional, to have done as I wish it to be. That I believe will be an eventual outcome of the situation. Without research and knowledge... where would I be?
I'll keep you folks posted as I am. Some information will obviously remain with me and the Dealership.
